Session 9 (2001) (C+)
Some people say this is the scariest movie they've ever seen. As for me - meh. Typical stuff. Many scenes were scary and they did make me feel uncomfrotable. Long dark hallways, needles through eyes, disturbing images (no ghosts/monsters mind you, just crying babies, barking dogs, and such). Dialogue was mediocre. Still entertaining.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (2011) (A+)

Went into this movie with no expectations. Came out happy, and in more than one way... The film is surprisingly erotic with more than a "few" sex scenes, all done very well I would add. Made it awkward to watch with the family. "Where's the remote, dear? Skip this. Skip this. Why are you not skipping this? Dear? Hello??" A lot more to the film than that, of course. I would recommend anyone to watch this.

Overall entertaining, I liked Jake Gyllenhaal's acting and the character he played. Not quite the super creepy, mind-blower I was told it was, but I don't regret seeing it.

Beware, alien3 and alien resurrection are ok movies, but alien & aliens are among the greatest movies of all time, so perhaps you shouldn't compare them in order to enjoy them. They were directed by different guys and they belong to different genres.

Like other fans, I'm starting to consider alien3 & resurrection as fanfiction, non-cannon movies.

Also, I finally understood what Ridley Scott said about Prometheus: it is -not- an Alien prequel. They both belong to the same universe but that's it. It's like the connection between Portal and Half-life games.

Not a bad movie. It was a nice update on the snowwhite tale. I liked those little touches, like Snow White actually using pants underneath the dress, or all the similarities with Disney's movie.

Please note that this post contains spoilers for The Dark Knight.

First off let me say that I haven’t seen the film since it was in theaters, so it is quite possible that some of my points may be incorrect. That being said…

I know I’m in the minority here, but I honestly didn’t like TDK that much. I felt that the film was bloated, uneven, and underdeveloped.

Dent’s story felt incomplete, like it should have been its own separate film. Plus his transformation into Two-Face felt forced to me. I know he has been severally burned, but why does that abruptly transform him into a sociopathic madman? Again, it’s been awhile since I watched the film, but I don’t recall any scenes that showed Dent to have mental problems or homicidal urges.

Also, the way Batman dispatches with Two-Face was disappointing. The film goes through all the trouble of showing Dent as a good person in contrast to the monster he will become, but then when he actually becomes Two-Face, he’s killed off pretty much immediately.

Also, while I’m on the subject of killing, why does Batman spare the Joker and then kill Dent? When he spares Joker, doesn’t he say something to him about how he’s not like Joker, and how he’s better and doesn’t kill or something?

Why is Lucius Fox so bothered by Batman’s tracking device? He didn’t seem to have a problem helping build all this other crap that Batman uses to take the law into his own hands. Why is he so disturbed by the fact that Batman can listen in on cell phone calls?

Yes, Heath Ledger is great in this movie; yes, he deserved an Oscar (for Brokeback Mountain, not TDK). My problem with the Joker isn’t Ledger’s performance, but the way the Joker commits his crimes. He’s too good at committing crimes, almost to the point of being cartoonish. I think the website Movie Plot Holes sums it up better than I can:

"The Joker's plan is beyond human. He knows Batman is gonna save Harvey so he shoots a bazooka in the direction of Harvey's vehicle because he knows Batman is gonna jump out of nowhere to intercept the shot. He knows how quick Batman is and how a-little-less-quick the police is so that he can send Batman to save Harvey and send the police to fail to save Rachel. And worst of all, he knows that a police officer will stay with him INSIDE his prison cell so that he can take him hostage and eventually kill everyone. If the police officer was not retarded, he would have been watching him from outside the cell, from the other side of the mirror-window."

And I still don’t understand why there were fat Batmen running around. Or what happened at Wayne’s mansion when the Joker broke in looking for Dent. And why the Scarecrow in the film for like 5 mins? I know Batman movies have a habit of having him face off against multiple villains, but if I remember correctly, he had nothing to do with the plot.

I didn’t hate the film. And I only watched it once, so I might enjoy it more on repeat viewings. Overall I would say that I enjoyed it, but it’s definitely not one of my personal favorites.

Why do they cast average-below average actresses for the character of Rachel Dawes? She is suppose to be a super-cute childhood friend of Bruce Wayne. In both movies, Bruce pines for her, and in TDK Harvey Dent is in love with her. Both men could easily have the hottest women in Gotham. To be realistic, Rachel should be physically attractive, on top of being smart and ambitious, blah blah blah.

Katie Holmes was OK and she resembled the child version of Rachel, (played by Emma Lockhart in Batman Begins). But my real beef is with Maggie-Bulldog-Gyllenhaal. What were they thinking? C'mon, how hard is it to get a cute brunette in there.

And I'm not thrilled about Anne Hathaway as the new Catwoman. Too old, and not hot enough.

These are comic book characters. You couldn't have my chubby ass running around in spandex beating up super villains. It doesn't work.

>And I'm not thrilled about Anne Hathaway as the new Catwoman. Too old, and not hot enough.

That's actually the main reason I want to see TDKR, just to see if Hathaway can pull it off. It will be interesting to see if she can actually play a convincing villain.

>>7494 here. I'm honestly not trying to nit-pick the film, which is something that I hate. I mean, you could take any film and find flaws with it. And I can understand why people liked it so much. I just felt that the film tried to juggle too many story elements without really developing some of the more important ones.

Hopefully I will enjoy TDKR more. Like I said, I'm very interested in seeing Anne Hathaway play a villain.
